Taiwan to Auction 4G Licenses for 2.6GHz by End-2014
April 01, 2014

Taiwan's National Communications Commission (NCC) plans to hold a license auction for a 190MHz portion of the 2.6GHz frequency band for 4G communications before year-end 2014, reported the Economic Daily News on April 1. The 190MHz portion will consist of two 70MHz FDD (Frequency-Division Duplex) blocks and a 40MHz TDD (Time-Division Duplex) block, together with a 10MHz guard band. At present, six WiMAX operators are using the 2.6GHz spectrum, whose licenses are due to expire between the end of 2014 and March 2016.
